Rock Island is located in northwestern Illinois on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. Together with Moline in Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf on the Iowa side of the river, Rock Island is part of the Quad-Cities. Rock Island has a population of 40,461. The Rock Island/Milan School District #41 has a wonderful, diverse population of about 6,300 students housed in 11 elementary schools, two junior high schools, one high school and one junior/senior high alternative school. The average class size is 21 and our student to teacher ratio is 21:1 based on 2007 State of Illinois data.
